Complimentary Headshots for Unemployed Job Seekers
It’s more than a picture.
Since 2020, DeMayne Earvin has donated professional headshots to unemployed job seekers in Northeast Ohio as part of his Shoot Forward initiative to help people find work.
The program was initially started to help boost people’s morale during the layoffs & furloughs of COVID-19, however, the mission still continues today.
“While a headshot is a crucial element in presenting yourself to employers, the experience of being photographed properly can boost confidence, raise self-esteem, and change self-perceptions…”, says DeMayne.

“If I can help someone stand a little taller and feel more confident when I photograph them, then I’m fulfilling the Shoot Forward mission“, DeMayne adds.
DeMayne founded Shoot Forward in 2018 to use his highly regarded skills as a commercial headshot photographer to give back to the community.
Since its inception, DeMayne has provided thousands of complimentary headshots to unemployed job seekers at job fairs throughout NE Ohio.
Numbers Don’t Lie
In a recent LinkedIn survey, over 200 HR professionals, business owners, and hiring managers were asked about the importance of LinkedIn headshots or profile pictures. The results were somewhat alarming…
79% of respondents said that a candidate’s LinkedIn headshot helps them get to know the person better.
96% of respondents rank LinkedIn profiles with professional headshots higher than those without.
70% of those surveyed admitted that they overlook candidates without LinkedIn profile pictures.

In the same survey, 82% agreed that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. However, 71% also admitted to rejecting a candidate at least once solely based on their profile picture. Think about that for a second…
